Our Staff

Our caring staff have the interests of our Residents at the heart of everything they do

Our staff have a genuine passion for making their life here as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. They listen to Residents’ suggestions and requests and do everything feasible to tailor conditions to suit.

We have:

  • Non-resident staff 7 days a week, 365 days a year
  • A group of seven committed, active and forward-thinking Trustees
  • A number of local volunteers who help with several tasks around the home
  • Residents are also supported with an individual Careline response pendant and if necessary there are local wardens to assist on a 24 hour basis

House Manager

I have lived in Ripon most of my life, 5th generation Riponian, had moved away from time to time but there is nothing quite like home. I am fairly new to Abbeyfield having had a variety of jobs from dental technician to shift manager at Mcdonalds. I have two sons and five grandchildren and an African grey parrot called Georgina, who I brought to work with me one day and the residents loved her!!

Relief Cook

I have lived in the Ripon area all of my life and worked at Abbeyfield almost seven years. I have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. I have always enjoyed cooking for my family but never have I cooked as a job before. I previously worked at Booths for 10 years and won the ‘Booths bake off competition’ with my sticky toffee buns and had them reproduced to sell in all of their stores.

I have lived in Ripon for 7 years but originally from the Highlands of Scotland. I am relatively new to Abbeyfield but am enjoying the homely environment that it offers. I am married with two boys and have worked in the hospitality industry for nearly 30 years.

Cook

I’ve always cooked and baked. Started cooking seriously at RAF Lyneham where I ran a snack bar in a tenpin bowling alley. Progressed to manager running a café in Ripon Community House and when it closed I moved to Lister House. I have been at Abbeyfield for 7 years and I love it!!
